Pflugerville ISD Superintendent Charles Dupre's tenure will come to an end this month.
The Fort Bend ISD board of trustees announced April 12 that the board had unanimously approved the hiring of Dupre, who had worked in the district for 11 years prior to coming to Pflugerville. Dupre will officially take over responsibility of the state's seventh-largest school district April 29.
"On behalf of the entire board of trustees, I want to thank everyone in our community for their patience while we conducted our thorough search," FBISD board President Jim Rice said. "We are delighted that Charles is returning to our school district and strongly believe we have made the right choice in asking him to serve as our next superintendent."
Dupre's selection as the next FBISD superintendent was announced March 20. Because of state laws, however, the district was required to wait 21 days after the announcement before offering Dupre a contract.
The Pflugerville ISD board of trustees is beginning the search for its next superintendent by first deciding whether to hire a consulting firm to assist in the search. On April 4, the board announced Director of Student Affairs Freddie McFarland would serve as the interim superintendent until a permanent replacement is found.
PISD is planning to host a farewell reception for Dupre on April 17 from 4–6 p.m. in the administration board room, 1401 W. Pecan St.
