Dr. John's Sports Center in Cedar Park announced April 8 the pending sale of its recreational facility and activities programming to HighPoint Fellowship Church.
Staff and activities will remain the same, though the organization could change its name as soon as August, said Sales and Marketing Director Aisha Foots.
"The current programs offered will stay the same, and nothing will change with the exception of hiring a general manager," she said. "They aren't going to turn this into a church or anything. We are going to make this as seamless as possible for parents so they don't even realize it's happening."
In 2006, John and Anita Krampitz opened Dr. John's Sports Center, providing after school care, pre-kindergarten classes, summer camps and sports education for children age 4–12. Krampitz said the sale of the sports center will allow him to devote more time to the national training of Coordinated Approach to Child Health, an after-school program that teaches children how to be healthy for a lifetime.
"I'll continue to do training for CATCH nationally, and I'm developing a training focus for licensed daycare facilities and child care providers," Krampitz said. "We learned here how to structure a program that helps little ones learn and understand what they eat every day and we hope to carry that on."
HighPoint Fellowship Church expects this sale to further improve their commitment to supporting families within the community, Foots said.
