Store employees were putting the last touches on the new 7-Eleven on Main Street in Grapevine Wednesday, preparing to open a business that attracted controversy as owners sought city approval.

Other Main Street business owners feared customers would buy liquor and carry it down the street. Proponents said city residents who live in the downtown area need a convenience store within walking distance.

In the end it was approved, with a market concept that will include more fresh produce than other 7-Elevens.

More new businesses coming to Grapevine were outlined during today's monthly economic development partnership meeting, sponsored by the Grapevine Chamber of Commerce.
