Work is on schedule for the Sixth Street extension project, and crews are currently working on the new section of the road that will extend to Unity Park Drive.

Assuming clear skies and agreeable weather conditions, Magnolia City Administrator Paul Mendes said the street should be open to traffic by early February.

The existing portion of the road still requires repaving and a center strip. Once completed, Mendes said the street will resemble a "typical residential street." The project was approved by the Magnolia City Council to open another artery into Unity Park to allow for easier access, and a road for cyclist to use to travel to the park.
