Sisters Angela Frierson and Melissa Kretzschmar have big plans for their store White Rock Country Rags & Doodads in 2013. The new addition to the 1,200-foot store will be about 1,500 feet, more than doubling White Rock's space.

"We'll be expanding next door, hopefully by next summer," Frierson said. "We'll be more of a full-blown Western store and will carry more men's and children's clothes and more name brands. We want to be more of a local community store, not be in a congested store in the mall."

The boutique—named after White Rock Marina in the East Texas town of Trinity where the women grew up—carries Western wear such as boots, Kona belts, clothes and gift items.

"A lot of smaller boutiques are known to be more pricey, and that's not us," Frierson said. "We want to be more versatile and have something for everyone."

White Rock also carries a lot of gift items for those not looking for clothes or boots.

Opened last February before the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo began, the sisters plan to host a one-year anniversary for White Rock Country before this year's rodeo season starts in late February.

"We didn't get to have a grand opening last year because time just flew by, so we'll make up for it by doing a one-year anniversary in February," Frierson said.
