Albert Villalba opened Sketch by Albert to provide Houston with European styles.

From ornate centerpieces to simple rose bouquets, Sketch by Albert has been offering floral arrangements for weddings, everyday gifts and other special events since it opened in 2007 in Montrose. Owner Albert Villalba has relocated his business over the years, first to Midtown and then moving to his current location off Windfern in Northwest Houston.

Villalba said much of his business in 2012 transitioned from individual sales to special events such as weddings and private parties.

"I have been able to expand my services," he said. "But it's important to me that people still know that we can provide flowers for an entire party or home, or a simple rose bouquet as an everyday gift. There is no project too small."

Sketch by Albert has also begun providing floral services to clients' homes, allowing Villalba to use his eye as an interior designer to decorate his customers' homes personally, sometimes on a weekly basis.

Villalba studied floristry in London, giving him a contemporary European artistic style, he said. Sketch by Albert specializes in orchids, but it also provides handmade vases and several species of plants and flowers.

"I am a traveler," Villalba said. "And wherever I travel, whether it's Thailand, Shanghai or Moscow, I'm always paying attention to the fashions."
