Newly selected Cedar Park Police Chief Sean Mannix will be officially sworn in Jan. 24 at 6 p.m. prior to the regular City Council meeting.
The ceremony at City Hall, 450 Cypress Creek Road, Bldg. 4, features a performance by the Austin Police Pipes and Drum Corps, the posting of the colors by the Cedar Park Police Department Honor Guard, and remarks by Mayor Matt Powell and City Manager Brenda Eivens.
The community is invited to attend the ceremony and short reception to follow.
Mannix was named chief Dec. 21 and began work Jan. 22. He was one of 76 applicants and five finalists in the search to replace Chief Henry Fluck, who announced is resignation—effective Dec. 31—on Feb. 23.
Mannix had served as assistant police chief for the City of Austin since 2009. In Cedar Park, he leads a department of 80 sworn police officers and more than 30 civilians, and he manages an annual budget of approximately $8.5 million, according to the city.
