Interfaith of The Woodlands continued its successful holiday assistance program in 2012, providing foods and gifts to more than 3,400 underprivileged children and adults in the community.

Through Interfaith's Adopt-A-Family and Holiday Toy Drive, 2,100 children received holiday gifts while 1,300 seniors received gifts, food and gift certificates to the nonprofit organization's Hand-Me-Up Shop.

"Interfaith continually strives to help our community, and through [its] holiday programs including Adopt-A-Family, Interfaith's Holiday Toy Drive, and Gifts for Seniors, Interfaith was able to a large number of individuals," said Dr. Ann Snyder, president and CEO of Interfaith of The Woodlands.

According to Interfaith, local individuals, families, congregations, organizations and other groups donated funds and gifts to support the programs.

"In addition to the gifts, every family assisted through the holiday season was given food from the Interfaith Food Pantry as well as clothing vouchers to use at our Hand-Me-Up Shop," Synder said. "Since so much of our holiday traditions revolve around food, Interfaith tried to provide each family with festive non-perishable food items and a frozen turkey."

In addition, the Gift for Seniors program provided seniors in need or alone for the holidays blankets as holiday gifts. They also received a $10 gift certificate to the Hand-Me-Up shop.
