Precinct 3 County Commissioner Ed Chance said Montgomery County and The Woodlands Road Utility District No. 1 will work in partnership to construct and install illuminated signs at specific intersections throughout The Woodlands Town Center.

"It will really help with visibility at night, safety, that kind of thing," Chance said.

Chance said construction of the signs will start within the next two to three weeks.

"It won't take long," Chance said, "They're not at all difficult to install."

He said the majority of the signs will be installed near The Woodlands Mall area, and around Mall Ring Road.

Chance said he estimated there to be around 12-14 signs to be constructed and installed.

Like similar lighted signs around The Woodlands, illumination is provided through an LED strip that has a relatively long useful life, which in turn accounts for a low maintenance cost. Cost of electricity for the power supply will be picked up by the county, as the electricity is already part of the traffic signal system.
