Scott & White Healthcare held an official ground breaking ceremony in Pflugerville on Oct. 12 to commemorate the construction of a new 11,800-square-foot clinic.
The new Scott & White clinic will be located at 1701 Pflugerville Parkway and will offer primary care, extended-hour, rehabilitation and specialty care services, according to the company. The clinic is expected open in spring 2013 and will replace the existing Scott & White-Pflugerville clinic at 1501 Pecan St.
"By bringing additional services to Pflugerville, we can better serve our patients and bring them the care they need closer to home," said Colleen Sundquist, regional administrator for clinics at Scott & White Healthcare-Round Rock, in a statement. "When we combine primary care physicians, specialty physicians and therapists all in one location, it's a win-win for our patients and physicians."
The new clinic will be four times as large as the existing Pflugerville Scott & White clinic and will host six primary care physicians, said Ernie Bovio, CEO for Scott & White Healthcare-Round Rock region.
"We opened a clinic here in 2007 to support the Pflugerville community needs," Bovio said. "But we've really outgrown that space. We also wanted to prepare for the future growth of East Pflugerville."
Pflugerville government and business representatives showed up en masse to celebrate the construction of the clinic they see as an indicator of the city's vitality.
"This is a clear sign of continued growth in Pflugerville and healthy growth," Pflugerville City Manager Brandon Wade said.
