Crosswater Yacht Club looks to promote a 'club' feel

Construction began in September on a new 111-acre marina project on Lake Travis. Crosswater Yacht Club, the newest marina on Lake Travis, is a result of an announcement by Suntex Ventures, a Dallas-based owner and operator of marina properties, of a merger among MOF Hurst Harbor LP, Crosswater Yacht Club and LP of Austin, which created Hurst Joint Venture LP.

The new marina features 247 wet slips, a ship store, fuel dock, golf cart access to the docks for slip owners, an integrated wave attenuator, 125 paved parking spaces, gated entry and a large common deck.

Many of the slips will also feature private docks, giving Crosswater Yacht Club a "club" feel.

Construction on the marina is under way with a soft opening date of December 2012. Crosswater Yacht Club is located in Lakeway along the south shore of Lake Travis, just northwest of Hurst Harbor Marina.

Suntex is building the marina despite lower-than-normal lake levels but does not perceive the low water levels as a problem.

"We believe that Crosswater Yacht Club is the most viable location on Lake Travis at both drought and flood stages," Suntex Marinas President Chris Petty said. "The project contains more than 100 acres of gradually sloping submerged land that is ideally suited to a floating facility application."

The marina can easily be moved with rising and falling lake levels, Petty said. The design facilitates operational efficiency while nearly eliminating customer disruption that is usually associated with fluctuations in water levels, he said.

"Suntex partners have owned and operated five marinas on Lake Travis," Petty said in a news release. "We are excited to undertake our first development project in this vibrant market."

Petty said he believes that Crosswater can be a premier destination for recreational boaters in Central Texas.

Roland Adams, a lifelong Lake Travis resident and general manager of Hurst Harbor, will head up the project.

"This new opportunity to operate a marina that will provide such great access to the docks at just about any lake level has my whole team excited," Adams said in a news release. "We can't wait to start providing the customer service level we know will be the highest on Lake Travis and quite possibly the entire state."
