Through Sept. 22, Cedar Park drivers may notice firefighters carrying boots along FM 1421 and US 183. They are members of the Cedar Park Firefighters Association seeking donations for the annual Fill the Boot drive to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

The Local 4322 association, in cooperation with the Cedar Park Fire Department, hopes to exceed last year's collection of $18,000 during the same campaign, according to a news release. The funds benefit local clinics, service programs, support groups, a children's summer camp, and an equipment loan program.

MDA is a nonprofit agency that funds worldwide research to cure muscular dystrophy, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and related diseases. Proceeds from the Fill the Boot campaign also help provide health care services for more than 700 local families, according to MDA.
