West Lake Hills City Council voted 3-0, with Councilman David Moore abstaining, to pass an amendment to Chapter 32 of the city code banning the use of handheld signs in city limits and in the West Lake Hills extraterritorial jurisdiction at its July 26 meeting.

While the new amendment bans the use of handheld signs, the city attorney will retain prosecutorial discretion.

"I'm not going to be prosecuting the Girl Scouts," said Alan Bojorquez, West Lake Hills City Attorney.
