With all precincts reporting, Georgetown ISD Place 6 trustee Greg Eady had 65.27 percent of the vote, while Ronna Johnson had 71.6 percent of the vote for Place 7.
Eady said he sought re-election because there is a lot of unfinished business he wants to take care of in the district.
"Where I come in with my financial background has helped us with our budget issues, our audit issues and our challenges we've had with our CFO [chief financial officer]," Eady said.
Eady's opponent, Francis Jackson, a retired GISD teacher, said he was running against Eady to stop teacher layoffs.
"I'm opposed to the cuts of all these teachers that [the trustees] are making. I think that teachers and aides are the heart and soul of the district," Jackson said.
The board approved a program change and reduction in force at its February meeting that cut 61 district positions, including teaching staff at Benold, Tippet and Forbes middle schools and Georgetown High School.
Johnson said she ran for a school board position to share her perspective as a mother with three students in each level of the district.
Eady and Johnson both said school finance was one of the top issues facing the district.
The board of trustees is expected to canvass the election results and swear in its newest member at its May 21 meeting at 7 p.m. at Frost Elementary School, 711 Lakeway Drive.
