Pflugerville's planned fourth high school will feature a comprehensive design after the board of trustees voted April 19 not to build a more limited campus.
Bill Clayton, PISD executive director of facilities and construction, said this means the new school will be designed to support a core curriculum, extra curriculum, sports, band, choir, a fine arts center and a career technology center.
Clayton said the district could have opted for a more limited design similar to a magnet school, but instead chose the comprehensive plan.
"Basically," Clayton said, "It will be designed to be like the other three high schools in Pflugerville."
It could also possibly mean a new football stadium for the new school as well, Superintendent Charles Dupre said.
There are three locations being considered for the site of the new high school, built to support the district's growth: properties off of Killingsworth Lane, Cameron Road and Cele Road, Dupre said.
Currently, the one off Cele Road is the most likely, since it's in the prime growth area for the district and has all utilities already on-site, Dupre said.
"But we're going to determine the best course of action for everyone when selecting one of these three properties, or even determining if another piece of property might be better," he said.
PISD is meeting with the city and the county April 23, Dupre said, to further discuss which site might be best for the new Pflugerville High School.
