The South Montgomery County Woodlands Chamber of Commerce's mobility team has compiled a list of local transportation projects that the team hopes will eventually earn funding through state and other area resources in order to be constructed.
The latest step in the process for the mobility team was to approve a list of seven projects to be supported by the chamber's executive council. The list is to then be submitted to the North Houston Association in order to gain that organization's support and place the projects on the NHA's Strategic Mobility Plan Project List. The NHA is a nonprofit organization serving businesses interested in land development for the north Harris County and south Montgomery County areas.
The seven projects recommended for submission to the NHA by the mobility team are:
Construction of a northbound "braided" ramp at I-45 south of Hwy. 242
Construction of a northbound to westbound flyover from I-45 onto Research Forest Drive
Widening of Gosling Road from two lanes to four lanes at Flintridge across Spring Creek
Widening of Lake Woodlands Drive from four lanes to six lanes from I-45 west to Grogan's Mill Road
Construction of grade separation at Lake Woodlands Drive and Grogan's Mill Road
Construction of grade separation at Research Forest Drive and Grogan's Mill Road
Widening of FM 2978 from two lanes to four lanes from FM 1488 to Spring Creek
Paula Lenz, executive director of the North Houston Association, said the organization is compiling the list of projects in order to produce a map that will be given to various entities, including state legislators and the Texas Transportation Committee, that could spur funding of the projects.
"The goal of this [project list] is enable us to do advocacy with various agencies," Lenz said.
The early list includes about 55 projects, Lenz said, including more than a dozen projects from the Association's 2007 list that have not been constructed. The final list will be pared down to about 25 projects.
Lenz said the map could be finalized and released by the end of this year or in early 2013.
