The City of Hutto held the first public hearing April 5 for the annexation of 90 acres close to Toll 130 and CR 108.

The total annexation area is 617 acres, but some of the landowners signed development agreements with the city, which allows land used for timber, wildlife or agricultural purposes to remain outside of city limits for 15 years.

The annexations would affect 37 pieces of property and 28 property owners.

One property owner spoke briefly during the public hearing and said he was against the annexation, but that he wanted to schedule a meeting with city staff to ask more questions about what city services he would be provided with following the annexation.

Planning Manager Will Guerin said a second public hearing is scheduled for April 19, and the two readings of the annexation ordinance will take place May 17 and June 7.
