Drivers on Westlake Drive can expect new 25 mph signs cropping up along the road soon, as West Lake Hills City Council approved to extend its 25 mph speed limit between Redbud Trail and West Lake Hills' city limits at Bee Creek.
In fall 2010, the city approved the lowered speed limit from 30 mph to 25 mph from Hull Circle to Red Bud Trail after getting complaints from homeowners of the dangers on the winding, steep roads.
City Administrator Robert Wood said the change will help police officers enforce traffic along the roadway as well as help drivers adhere to the more consistent speed limit.
While the change effectively took place when the City Council approved the speed limit amendment Feb. 22, the police department will not enforce the new speed limit until signs are in place.
