CARTS notified city officials in 2011 it would not renew its contract. Since then, Round Rock city staff have been scrambling to replace a service that provides more than 1,000 trips per month, mostly to the elderly and disabled.
The new service is expected to be in place by June 1 in time for the latest extension agreement with CARTS to expire.
