The California-based grilling supplies retailer Barbecues Galore opened in Cedar Park in April and kept sales steady during the hot summer months despite burn bans across Central Texas. As temperatures rose, the market for custom outdoor kitchens kept business from evaporating, said store manager Ron Hovey.

"Business has been slower than some expected with all the burn bans, so we tried to sell barbecue rubs and cooking supplies," he said. "But for people looking to build an outdoor kitchen, now is a good time to do it."

Barbecues Galore staff can help homeowners select a grill and accompanying accessories as well as design and install the ideal outdoor kitchen.

Grill and island prices range from around $100 to more than $30,000.
