After more than a year of planning, building and decorating, Nonnie's Soda Fountain owner Danon Maynard hopes to open by the end of January.
"We've been waiting for this for a year, so we're very excited," she said.
The diner's dcor is '50s-style with a jukebox, car fronts hanging from the ceiling and bright pink and green walls. Maynard said she is surprised that male clientele have been the most excited about the diner opening.
"We have men come in who say, 'This is where I'm going to be all the time,'" she said.
The soda fountain will serve old-fashioned hand-drawn sodas, ice cream desserts, sandwiches and soups. On Tuesdays from 4 to 6 p.m., Maynard will offer Senior Moments with discounts for patrons 65 years and older, and dancing is encouraged.
