The Pflugerville City Council named Jim Bowlin the city's new parks and recreation director at its regular Dec. 13 meeting.

Bowlin, who formerly worked in the parks and recreation department of Edmond, Okla., replaces Amy Atkins, who resigned in September to accept another position.

Jose Madrigal filled in as interim parks and recreation director.
