Construction on the Williamson County Emergency Services Operations Center is set to begin Jan. 26.
The 30,000-square-foot facility will house personnel from county departments including 911 communications, emergency management and the Hazardous Materials Response Team as well as some staff from the Sheriff's Office and the Williamson County and Cities Health District.
Williamson County 911 Communications is currently located within the sheriff's office at 508 S. Rock St., Georgetown.
"We're landlocked; there's no room to expand," said John Sneed, emergency services senior director, referring to the 508 S. Rock St. location. "As the county's population has continued to grow, so have calls for service."
County commissioners approved a maximum construction price of $12,297,208 on Dec. 20 for the facility, which will be built in the 2000 block of Inner Loop in Georgetown. Construction is expected to last 410 days.
