Members of the Heritage Park Homeowners Association saw a need in their community for a basketball court and helped fill that need with an $8,000 donation to the Cedar Park Parks and Recreation Board. The check covered almost half of the cost of the new half-court sized basketball court.
The basketball facility is in the Heritage Park neighborhood's park, which is owned and maintained by the City of Cedar Park.
"It's nice to see this kind of financial support from the HOA. Without their help, the basketball court project would not have been completed as soon as it was," said Curt Randa, Cedar Park Parks and Recreation director.
The HOA presented the $8,000 check to the parks board at its Dec. 12 meeting.
"It was pleasant working with the Parks Board in getting this done because it made a big impact on the park in our community," said Gerald Babiarz, Heritage Park HOA board president. "We have a lot of children who needed it. The court looks great and it is well-used. From the first day they put the hoops up, it was being put to use by the children who live here."
