Work to widen part of Old Houston Road from two to four lanes began Aug. 31, as planned, according to Precinct 4 Commissioner Matt Gray’s Office.
The project
A $7.25 million construction project focused on expanding the roadway will take place over the next year, as previously reported by Community Impact. The project starts where Old Houston Road intersects Hwy. 242 in New Caney and ends 0.8 mile south of the intersection.
Other work that will be completed under the project includes the addition of:
A continuous turn lane
A new bridge over Dry Creek
Roadside ditches
Some context
The current construction is just the first segment of a three-phase project that will widen Old Houston Road from two to four lanes between Hwy. 242 and FM 1314.
