Here are the latest updates on several road projects in New Caney and Porter. This list is not comprehensive.
Upcoming projects
1. Old Houston Road widening
Project: Old Houston Road will be widened from two to four lanes with a turn lane and roadside ditches between Hwy. 242 and FM 1314 in a three-phase project.
Update: Field work has kicked off for Segments 2 and 3 of this project, said Kennedy Williams, a community outreach staffer with Montgomery County Precinct 4 Commissioner Matt Gray's Office, via email June 11. Design of Segments 2 and 3 began in February and April, respectively.
2. Sorters Road widening
Project: Sorters Road will be widened from two to four lanes with a turn lane between North Bentwood Channel and Northpark Drive. Ditches will also be reconstructed.
Update: Work along the South Bentwood Channel bridge is nearly finished, Williams said.
Recently completed
3. Knox Drive traffic light
Project: A new traffic signal was added at the intersection of Knox Drive and Loop 494 in Porter, according to a June 23 social media post from Precinct 4.
Update: Officials ask that drivers be careful when using the intersection while they adjust to the new traffic patterns.
4. Scott Gardner Road drainage project
Project: Drainage work was completed along Scott Gardner Road near the roadway’s intersection with FM 1485 in New Caney, as previously reported by Community Impact.
Update: From June 10-12, the roadway was closed for construction. The project was completed by the end of July, Williams confirmed via email.
