With all precincts reporting, results show New Braunfels ISD board member Steve Minus has won the race for Precinct 2 Comal County Commissioner for the March 3 Republican Primaries, according to the Comal County elections website.
What you need to know
Minus received 3,561 votes, or 51.36% of the vote, while Steve Rollins and John Stratemann received 1,399 votes and 1,974 votes, respectively.
Election night results show 41,359 voters cast a ballot, equating to about 28% of the 147,515 registered in Comal County.
Minus faces no Democratic opposition for the seat, meaning he will likely be sworn into office in January, according to Texas state law.

New Braunfels ISD board member, Steve Minus, is ahead by 1,003 votes in the race for Precinct 2 Comal County Commissioner in early voting totals for the March 3 Republican Primaries. He faces two challengers, retired service member Steve Rollins and rancher John Stratemann.
The winner of tonight’s race will take over the seat from current Precinct 2 County Commissioner Scott Haag, who did not file for reelection.
Precinct 2 represents the Southern end of Comal County.
No Democratic candidates had filed by the Dec. 4 deadline to run for the position, as previously reported by Community Impact.
By the numbers
Steve Minus received 2,269, or about 50.82% of the vote, while Rollins and Stratemann received 930, or about 20.83% and 1,266 or about 28.35%, respectively.
25,127 ballots have been reported so far, according to the Comal County elections website. This equates to approximately 17.03% of the 147,503 registered voters in the county.
Digging deeper
Minus has not stepped down from his position on the NBISD board of trustees—pending the results of tonight’s election.
Any decisions to fill what would become a vacant seat on the board are also pending tonight’s voting results, Zach Perkins, a spokesperson for the district, said in an email to Community Impact.
