Gruene Lake Nutrition offers healthy sips in New Braunfels

After moving to Texas in 2019, Heather Benson decided to take on a new career in the health and fitness industry by opening a healthy food beverage shop at 2339 Gruene Lake Dr., New Braunfels.

Benson—who was previously working as a teacher—opened Gruene Lake Nutrition in January 2022 after meeting the owners of a neighboring gym who asked her if she would be interested in opening a protein shake shop.

What they offer

Gruene Lake Nutrition offers unique nutritional protein shakes, energy teas and various enhancers such as probiotics and natural fat burners. On the energy tea side, customers love their mermaid tea, which is a strawberry, pineapple, and blueberry flavor. The shop also offers some seasonal drinks, such as a margarita flavor during fiesta.

“We offer vegan, and keto, and if someone's coming in and lacking fiber intake or lacking energy or probiotics, we can cater to that as well. We also have an amazing athletic line where we offer our whey protein base," Benson said.

What’s special about it?

All of the shakes at the Gruene Lake Nutrition are served with the same amount of macronutrients, 17 grams of plant protein, two servings of fruit and two servings of vegetables.

Benson said they also caters to people’s individual dietary needs.

“We're dedicated to providing a welcoming space where people can explore the world of nutrition and discover our delicious protein shakes and energy tea recipes and develop a healthy, active lifestyle,” Benson said.
