Work is underway on a new facility in McKinney that will be shared by nonprofits aiming to serve people in need across Collin County.
What happened?
Nonprofit officials and community leaders held a groundbreaking ceremony Aug. 4 for the Collin County NeighborHub. The 40,000-square-foot facility will house several different nonprofits that serve people across Collin County.
The groundbreaking comes months after McKinney City Council members approved new zoning for the project, which will be located near the corner of Redbud Boulevard and White Avenue. Nonprofit organization Catholic Charities Dallas is leading the project as a managing partner.
Catholic Charities Dallas President and CEO David Woodyard said the facility will make a “huge difference” for many people in the coming years. Construction is expected to last one year, and operations are expected to begin in summer 2027, he said.
“This is a place where tens of thousands will have their health care needs fulfilled [for] free,” Woodyard said.
A closer look
Multiple nonprofits have already signed on to the project as founding partners, Woodyard said. Those include:
“So many more services are yet to come,” Woodyard said. “We filled the first floor. The second floor is waiting for those to join us.”
The facility will be able to accommodate up to 18 nonprofits in total, officials said.
Each partner will serve a distinct need and deliver wraparound support for every individual who visits the hub, according to its website. Nonprofit partners will pay below-market rent for space within the hub.
The hub is projected to serve more than 12,000 individuals within the first year of opening and more than 28,600 individuals by the fifth year, according to its website.
“The NeighborHub represents greater access to hope, stability and the opportunity while providing resources that truly lift our community,” Woodyard said.

George Fuller, chairperson of the McKinney Community Development Corp., said groundbreakings are “always exciting because they represent progress.” MCDC has invested $1.7 million in the project, according to its website.
“Every once in a while there’s a project that comes along that’s measured not in size, square footage or dollars invested, but in lives that will be changed,” Fuller said. “Today is one of those great days.”
The NeighborHub is the kind of project MCDC was created to support, he said, noting that the impact will reach McKinney and Collin County.
Officials are breaking ground on the project because of the vision of two people who Fuller recognized: Martin and Kim Sanchez, founders of the Sanchez Advisory Group and Sanchez Charities. Sanchez Charities pursued zoning for the project and has pursued funding from MCDC.
“You never lost sight of what this could become,” he said. “We’re all here today because of your determination.”
