Public comments open for Lavon Lake Watershed Protection Plan

The future Lower Bois d’Arc Creek Reservoir will supply 123,000 acre-feet per year when it comes online in 2020.[/caption] The North Texas Municipal Water District, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service  and the Lavon Lake Watershed Partnership have opened a public comment period for the draft Lavon Lake Watershed Protection Plan. The draft plan can be viewed on the NTMWD’s website. The plan will address increasing bacteria levels in the East Fork of the Trinity River and Wilson Creek tributaries, which flow into Lavon Lake, according to a news release from the NTMWD. Commissioners Court to discuss right of way acquisition for Outer Loop

The commissioners are going through condemnation proceedings, otherwise known as using eminent domain, to acquire nine undeveloped parcels of land between Preston Road and the Dallas North Tollway in Celina. Property owners have been offered compensation that equals or exceeds the fair market value of the property as appraised, according to the agenda. Property owners have declined the county’s offer for compensation.

Watch Disney’s ‘Moana’ at Hall Memorial Library

The McKinney Public Library system invites residents to watch “Moana.” This free event at the Roy and Helen Hall Memorial Library, 101 E. Hunt St., takes place Monday from 6-8:30 p.m. www.mckinneytexas.org
