Panel to discuss 2020-21 school year, state of education at McKinney Chamber event

The McKinney Chamber of Commerce will host a panel of speakers who will answer questions regarding the upcoming school year.

In addition to answering questions about having classes move to virtual platforms, officials will examine the state of education in North Texas as a whole.

The McKinney chamber is hosting the panel virtually during its quarterly luncheon July 28. The discussion will be held from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.

Panelists for the event are McKinney ISD Superintendent Rick McDaniel; Mark Smith, vice president and provost of Collin College; and Missy Bender, the regional advocacy director of Raise Your Hand Texas.

“The way our children are being educated is clearly in flux right now. Whether it’s in person, virtually, or some hybrid—parents, students, and teachers alike have questions,” said Lisa Hermes, president and CEO of the McKinney Chamber of Commerce, in a news release. “We’re hoping we can provide some insight and maybe even some clarity to those who have questions during this discussion.”
