A Memorial Day ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, located at 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway in Dallas. Attendees must park at The Potter’s House church at 6777 W. Kiest Blvd. in Dallas to catch a shuttle bus to the cemetery. Buses will run from 8-10:30 a.m. and resume service after the ceremony. The town of Trophy Club is hosting a Memorial Day ceremony at Medlin Cemetery, according to the town’s website, to honor all of those who gave the “ultimate sacrifice for our country.” The event itself will include remarks and performances by Trophy Club Mayor Alicia Fleury, Trophy Club Town Council members, town leadership and staff, and U.S. Army service members. In addition, the National Anthem and “Taps,” which is the country’s song of remembrance, will be played. Tentatively, the event will begin with the National Anthem and posting of the colors before moving into the welcome address and Memorial Day reading. The city of Frisco, the Frisco Garden Club and Frisco VFW Post 8273 collaborate to present a Memorial Day observance at Frisco Commons Park. The event will include a traditional flag and wreath-laying ceremony, and local scout troops will participate. 9 a.m. Free. 8000 McKinney Road, Frisco.
The 93rd annual Fort Worth Memorial Day Service will be at 10 a.m. May 30 at Mount Olivet Cemetery, 2301 N. Sylvania Ave. in Fort Worth. Tarrant County Judge Glen Whitley and Fort Worth Mayor Mattie Parker will speak before the keynote address by Capt. Mark McLean, commander of the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth. Seating is provided. Admission is free. After the ceremony, an escorted motorcade will form at the cemetery's Watauga Street entrance and go to the East Northside Drive Bridge for a brief Naval Service, according to a city news release.
