The Leadership McKinney Alumni Network will host a three-day event to pay tribute to lives lost and to honor the heroism of first responders and individual citizens during the events of Sept. 11, 2001.
The event, called “Patriot Day—A Timeline of Remembrance” will begin Friday, Sept. 11 and run through Sunday, Sept. 13. It will present the opportunity for attendees to commemorate 9/11 on a self-guided tour of a timeline of events, according to a McKinney Chamber of Commerce news release.
The three-day event is an expansion of the annual event hosted by the Leadership McKinney Alumni Network to continue throughout the weekend this year.
“This event is near and dear to the hearts of Leadership Alumni and we felt it was important to observe this day again this year, despite the current global pandemic,” said DeeDee Guerra, executive director of Visit McKinney, in a news release. “The 2001 tragedy is the single deadliest terrorist attack in human history, which resulted in the largest loss of life by a foreign assault on American soil.”
