Incumbent Keresa Richardson won the Republican bid in the Texas House District 61 election, according to unofficial voting results from Collin County.
With all 86 vote centers reporting, Richardson received 12,466 votes, representing 66.99% of votes cast. Opponent Frederick Frazier received 6,144 votes, or 33.01% of votes cast.
Richardson will appear on the ballot again in November when she faces the winner of the Democratic primary, which features candidates Jackie Bescherer and Brittany Black.

With 37 of 86 vote centers reporting, Collin County officials have released updated voting totals showing Keresa Richardson is still in the lead to be the Republican candidate for the District 61 race with 9,826 votes, or 69.28% of votes cast.
Richardson is running against challenger Frederick Frazier, who has received 4,356 votes, or 30.72% of votes cast, according to Collin County voting results.

Richardson is running against challenger Frederick Frazier, who has received 4,004 votes, or 30.29% of votes cast, according to Collin County voting results.

Richardson is in the lead with 9,078 votes, or 69.98% of early votes cast. Frazier has earned 3,895 early votes, or 30.02% of votes cast.
The winner will appear again on the November ballot against the winner of the Democratic primary, which features candidates Jackie Bescherer and Brittany Black. Cities the district represents include McKinney, Frisco and Celina.
The context
Nearly 10% of Collin County's 752,502 registered voters cast a ballot in the primary election during early voting, according to the Texas Secretary of State’s website.
Early voting for the 2026 primary election started Feb. 17 and ended Feb. 27 across the state, and unofficial results show 72,657 ballots were cast in-person or by mail, totaling about 9.66% of registered Collin County voters, ahead of the March 3 primary elections.
