The
McKinney Housing Authority will open its
online Housing Choice Voucher Waitlist on Oct. 30 at 9 a.m. to persons who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.
Only the first 250 applicants will be accepted, and according to an MHA news statement it is likely the waitlist will be full and close within 30 minutes of opening, so applicants are encouraged to apply as quickly as possible.
Preferred applicants are those who are homeless, displaced by a government entity, non-elderly disabled persons who are transitioning out of institutional setting or at risk of becoming homeless, the statement said.
Applicants who need special accommodations or are elderly or disabled may come into the MHA office, located at 1200 N. Tennessee St., to complete the application on a public computer.
The waitlist application will only be available online, and some smartphones may not show the full application, so computer use is recommended, according to the statement.
Once the application closes Oct. 30, applicants must continue monitoring their email regarding waitlist renewal at 180 days. If the applicant fails to respond to the email notice, he or she will be dropped from the waitlist after seven days.
Check the
MHA website to find out if you are eligible to apply.
