Brides can “say yes to the dress” without saying no to bargains when they shop at the quaint boutique in Historic Downtown McKinney that offers the latest designer gowns at discounted prices.

Say Yes to the Re-Dress has a large inventory of sample and consignment, or used, wedding gowns and accessories.

Owner Melinda Jacobs said she first came up with the idea for the bridal shop when God was nudging her to get out of her comfort zone. Say Yes to the Re-Dress began in July 2016 in the form of pop-up bridal shows held in hotels once a month.

“This piqued a lot of interest, but a lot of brides would want to think about this important decision and call us at a later date,” Jacobs said. “... So, I decided to change the course of Say Yes to the Re-Dress and find a permanent location.”

Jacobs said she has been diligent in creating a bridal boutique that can meet the needs of the brides without straining their wedding budget.

“We have worked tirelessly to accumulate our inventory by collaborating with local bridal boutiques to obtain their sample gowns and consignors to collect an inventory of the latest designs for the season,” she said.

One of the challenges Jacobs said she faces with the retail store is educating the consumer on the advantages of considering this alternative when dress shopping.

“We want to educate that a sample gown or gently consigned is a budget enhancement,” she said. “Our gowns accommodate all budgets, and with the savings, it leaves more funds for a bigger, better honeymoon.”

Say Yes to the Re-Dress is not just about the sale, Jacobs said.

“We get to know our customers and hear the stories of how they met, the stories of the proposal and to see the love and support each bride enjoys,” she said. “We want to be part of their experience.”
