Owners Melton, Marshall and Matt Knotts are planning the return of the Yellow House as a restaurant in Magnolia. After a few minor cosmetic and structural renovations this summer, Tressie’s at the Yellow House, located at 312 Commerce Street, will open this fall, the family announced.

Matt Knotts, the manager of restaurant operations and executive chef, said he plans to combine his 15 years of culinary experience with his grandmother's southern comfort food recipes. He also said he named the restaurant in her honor.

"This is not just our yellow house, but Magnolia's yellow house," he said. "We want people to come in and order something that they grew up knowing and loving."

Knotts said the menu will include southern classics, such as chicken and dumplings, turnip greens, fried chicken, mac-and-cheese, steak, cedar plank salmon, and freshly ground beef patties served with rosemary roasted tomatoes and bacon jam on a black garlic and truffle butter bun. He said he hopes to serve lunch and dinner during the week and open early for breakfast and brunch on the weekend, which will include dishes like shrimp and grits, eggs Benedict and traditional French toast.

"I lived around here a long time," he said. "My family visits Magnolia several times a year, especially for the Renaissance Festival, [and I have been] attending since I was 16. I always loved the small-town feel of the town. My family has always wanted to move to Magnolia. This is a great first step in that direction."
