The Matias Almeyda Training Center will open in late March at 4211 Clow Road, Houston. The facility is named after its owner, former soccer player and current head coach of the professional Mexican soccer team Chivas Guadalajara, Matias Almeyda.
The center will feature five outdoor soccer fields and an indoor youth-sized soccer field when it opens this spring. In the summer, a second building with a full-sized indoor field and volleyball courts will open.
Also in the summer, the facility's management will begin hiring coaches for its training academy, business relationship manager Miguel Sada said. The academy, named Almeyda FC, will be open to children ages 4-18 years old.
Sada said the fields at the center will also be available for other teams and leagues to rent. He said half of the fields will be synthetic and the other half will be natural grass.
