Venture Christian Church has planned a four-week grand opening celebration kicking off Jan. 20 at Hopper Middle School, 7811 Fry Road, Cypress. Lead Minister Nathan Boldt said he looks forward to reaching the growing population around the Bridgeland and Elyson communities. The church is non-denominational, and Boldt said its mission is “pursuing Christ together.”

Four Sundays of special events are scheduled starting Jan. 20 at 10 a.m. with an effort to feed local children in need. The following Sunday, Jan. 27, will feature food trucks. Lance Berkman, the former Houston Astros baseball player, will be the guest speaker on Feb. 3. “Baby Shower Sunday” will conclude the grand opening on Feb. 10 with a fundraiser for two local pregnancy centers.
