Plum Coffee Shop at 11688 Barker Cypress Road, Ste. A-2, Cypress, will soon have new owners. With former owners Shawn and Mia Jamal moving out of state, Elizabeth Hale told Community Impact Newspaper she and her husband Jerry are slated to officially take over the shop on May 1.

The Hales also own Cake Fine Pastry at 13010 FM 529, Houston, where they are known for specialty custom cakes, brownies, pies, push-pop cupcakes and other sweet treats.

“Plum Coffee Shop has always had a soft spot in our hearts,” Hale said. “Both of our families are in Cypress, and when the business changed hands they wanted to make sure it was a Cypress family.”

Hale said the coffee shop will maintain its “cozy and charming” atmosphere and continue to host parties, meetings and book clubs. However, the pastries—including cinnamon rolls, muffins, scones and cookies—will now be from Cake Fine Pastry.

Plum Coffee is now also on delivery apps Grubhub, Uber Eats and DoorDash. Future additions could include poetry and open mic events as well as extended business hours, Hale said.

Breakfast and lunch sandwiches are on the menu, and corporate catering services are available. Specialty beverages include hot, iced and frozen options such as mochas, chai tea, espresso, cappuccino, americano, lattes, tea and fruit smoothies.
