Updated 11:55 a.m. Feb. 1: Nonprofit Crisis Assistance Center rebranded Jan. 30 to become Community Assistance Center. CAC Executive Director Jennifer Landers said the change was made so local families and individuals will not feel like they have to be experiencing a crisis in order to seek help from the organization.
Local nonprofit Crisis Assistance Center, located at 1022 McCall Ave., Conroe, will rebrand on Jan. 30. CAC Executive Director Jennifer Landers said the nonprofit will announce its new name at a reception from 7:30-9 a.m. on Jan. 30 on the sixth floor of the Conroe Tower, 600 W. Davis St., Conroe.
This will be the organization’s second rebranding since its launch in 1981, as it changed its name in 2015 from Montgomery County Emergency Assistance to Crisis Assistance Center. While the new name has not been released, Landers said the nonprofit will keep the CAC acronym.
“We’re trying to get away from folks just thinking we’re only here for crisis funding—that’s a piece of what we do, but it’s not all we do,” Landers said. “Our biggest focus really is on self-sufficiency and how do we get those folks up and out of the situation and give them tools and long-term strategic solutions to stay stable and not have to keep coming back to us or other organizations for funds.”
The agency will continue to offer short- and long-term assistance to families and individuals in Montgomery County by providing food; clothing; access to local resources; and funds for utilities, rent or a mortgage. 936-539-1096. www.cac-mctx.org
