A groundbreaking was held March 26 to mark the beginning of the second phase of construction on Bellaire High School, 5100 Maple St., Bellaire. The first phase, including demolition of the Career, Technology, Education building, adding an underground detention system and utilities, is nearly complete, according to a news release. The second phase includes construction of administration offices, dining and learning commons, a courtyard and a four-story parking garage. The third and final phase includes build-out of the athletic fields, with all work slated to wrap up in 2022.
