Our Lady of the Lake University will celebrate the grand opening of its newest campus at 600 N. Sam Houston Parkway W., Houston, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony March 7, the college announced in a news release March 5.
OLLU previously held classes out of a shared space in partnership with Lone Star College-North, located at 2700 W.W. Thorne Drive, Houston. The new, stand-alone campus will offer undergraduate degrees in management, multidisciplinary studies and research, psychology and sociology. The campus will also offer master’s and doctoral degrees in business administration, education-school counseling, information systems and security, nonprofit management, psychology, sociology, social work and leadership studies.
“The new facility provides a tremendous resource for OLLU students in Houston and gives working adults more options to advance their education without interrupting their careers,” OLLU President Diane E. Melby said in a statement.
In addition to in-person classes, the campus also offers online classes as well as evening and weekend options.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony will begin at 5 p.m. with remarks by Melby, current students and faculty members, followed by facility tours and refreshments, according to the news release. The celebration will also include the unveiling of a mural created by Hector Garza, an OLLU alumnus and San Antonio-based artist.
