Kansas-based discount footwear retailer Payless ShoeSource Inc. closed a second Friendswood location at 102 El Dorado Blvd., Ste. A, in April. The company announced in early April that it would immediately close 400 underperforming stores nationwide and in Puerto Rico after seeking bankruptcy protection under a Chapter 11 petition in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court of Missouri.

The chain operated 4,400 stores across 30 countries. Friendswood saw the closure of Payless at 500 Baybrook Mall, Friendswood, in January. www.payless.com
