UPDATE 10:38 a.m. Aug. 22

Correction: Costco officials Aug. 22 have taken back a statement made Aug. 21 to Community Impact Newspaper that the McKinney Costco location will open by Oct. 1. Wanda Jorgenson, administrative assistant in Costco’s real estate department, said Aug. 22 that Costco will not give an expected opening date until the development is “at construction.” She said it takes about 100 days to open a store once it begins construction.

Costco officials said they expect to open Oct. 1 at the northeast corner of Hardin Boulevard and US 380. The membership wholesaler has stores throughout the area, including both Frisco and Plano.

The building will be approximately 150,000 square feet with more than 700 parking spaces and a members-only fuel station. Costco officials said the store would be slightly larger in size and have more offerings than its Frisco location. www.costco.com
