Ovation Academy of Performing Arts opened in June at 301 W. Louisiana St. in downtown McKinney. Ovation Academy offers professional performing arts trainings for children ages 3-18. Classes include dance, acting, musical theatre and modeling. Ovation teaches style training, technique, connections and life skills needed to succeed in the industry, according to its website. The McKinney location has a classroom, a black box theatre and a dance studio. Summer camps are available, and starting in August, after-school, weekend and homeschooling sessions will be available as well. The campus will celebrate its grand opening July 5-7 with performances of "Matilda the Musical." 972-948-5859.
