The city of Austin earlier this fall completed construction at the intersection of Slaughter Lane and South First Street, an element of the Intersection Safety/Vision Zero project. The Intersection Safety/Vision Zero project is a $15 million effort to improve safety and reduce traffic fatalities at locations on the Top Crash Location Intersection Priorities Improvement List, as identified by the city. Recent improvements at the Slaughter Lane/South First intersection include new shared-use paths, high-visibility crosswalks and upgraded curb ramps.
