Southwest Christian Church, 10500 Old Manchaca Road, will begin offering a community garden and free child care for single parents in September. A portion of the garden will be used by the church to grow food for community members who are food insecure, while another section will be open to the public.
The child care program will begin Sept. 9 and will be offered on the first Monday and Saturday of each month from 6-8 p.m. and 9 a.m.-noon, respectively. On Saturdays, the age limit is 18 months and older. An online registration form will be available. 512-280-7922.
