The city of San Marcos announced in a Sept. 24 press release that it will host a groundbreaking ceremony Oct. 3 to mark the start of construction on the remodel and expansion of the San Marcos Public Library, located at 625 E. Hopkins St. City officials have told
Community Impact Newspaper that the library will remain open throughout construction, which is expected to be completed early 2021.
According to the release, the renovation project will more than double the square footage of the library, and will include the additions of a teen room and children’s area as well as a technology hub.
Additionally, it will add a meeting room that can seat up to 240 people. The city will be holding an open house at the library from Oct. 2-3, where design renderings will be available to the public. 512-393-8200.
