At a meeting Sept. 18 the City Council voted to rename the Historic City Hall the Krug Activity Center after the late law enforcement officer and former mayor Pete Krug, who lived across from the building for many years.

Over the course of his career Krug worked for the Hays County Sheriff’s Department, the Austin Airport Police Department and the Kyle Police Department as well as holding positions on several commissions and in community organizations.

Built in 1912, the building has not been used as a city hall since 2007.
